About UIMS

A national collaborative network for international medical students.

UIMS is a non-profit organisation based in Prague. We connect the international student organisations of all eight medical faculties in the Czech Republic, so that every student benefits from what we build together.

Our story

Founded in 2020 on a simple realisation.

International medical students go through very similar experiences at whichever medical school they attend in the Czech Republic. UIMS was created to give them a platform to collaborate – to combine shared experience and improve student life for the entire duration of their studies.

Our board members bring experience from their own universities’ international student organisations. What began as a small committee during the pandemic has grown into a national conference, an open-access lecture library, a student newsletter and an alumni network spanning several countries.

Our objectives

Enhance the knowledge of students through educationally centred workshops and lectures.
Form collaborations with student organisations, maximising our reach to all students.
Enrich our calendar with social, charity, wellbeing and media events covering every aspect of student life.
Be a platform for students, graduates and doctors to share their ideas, knowledge and expertise.

MedAll Exceptional Educator Award

Recognised in our first year.

On 1 September 2021, the medical education platform MedAll named UIMS a recipient of its Exceptional Educator Award – one of only 12 teams selected from over 600 healthcare organisations – for delivering consistently high-quality medical education at a national and international scale despite the challenges of the pandemic.
